President/Treasurer

Mike Lyner - Has been a Board member since 2013, helping to investigate and minimize the causes of rapid weed growth, then moving on to make Lily Lake a pride of Stillwater as it was when he moved to town in 1981. Mike recently retired from being a Principal and Director of Sustainability at RSP Architects in Minneapolis, and has been involved in many initiatives for climate change and wellbeing. He is an active nordic skier, bike racer and runner, and regularly swims shore-to-shore in Lily Lake with his wife Nancy in warmer months.

Vice President

Michael McCarthy - Is an active four-season outdoorsman with interests in urban forestry and natural spaces. He has fond memories of canoeing in Lily Lake, watching wildlife along its shores, and enjoying picnics and sports in its adjoining park. Mike moved to the neighborhood overlooking the lake's west shore and woodlands in 2017. He was elected to the Board in 2019 and looks forward to helping further the community's appreciation of Stillwater's gem, Lily Lake.

Secretary

Barb Bickford - Joined the board in 2023 after having led the FLL's public visioning process from 2020 to 2022.  She has lived near Lily Lake since 2017 and loves watching the wildlife, except when the deer chomp her hostas. Barb ("Ms.Lorax") is an avid gardener and tree-planter, and recently installed a gravel bed for nurturing tree seedlings for the woods around Lily Lake.

(City Councilmember - Ward 1)

Ryan Collins - Has been working with the Board since 2019 as a Stillwater City Council member.  He officially joined the Board in 2021.  Living only a few blocks away from Lily Lake, he loves that this area is a beautiful and scenic retreat in the middle of Stillwater.  He has been a history teacher for the past two decades at Mahtomedi Middle School.  He represents Stillwater on the Middle St. Croix Watershed Management Organization Board of Managers and also serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Washington County Historical Society.

Member

Chris Warner - After joining the organization in 2013, became the VP from 2019-2023.  He is an advocate for open and clean wild spaces for people and animals, and is an enthusiast of wilderness adventures. Becoming part of the organization has been a great way to get involved and to help maintain and support this little jewel of a lake right in the heart of Stillwater.  Chris and his family enjoy using Lily Lake for paddling, ice skating, cross country skiing and more.

Member

Del Peterson - is the past president and founding member of the Friends of Lily Lake (formerly Lily Lake Association). He has been a Board member since 2013 when the organization was formally established.

Member

Cyndi Linnerooth - Became a member of the ‘Friends of Lily Lake’ in 2020, and a Board Member in 2022. Her family has lived on Lily Lake since the late 1960’s, and have seen numerous changes occur in the last 55 years with the lake and its impact on the community. Lily Lake is home to an abundance of wildlife… ducks, geese, fish, frogs, birds, fox, deer, opossum, racoons, etc. It is a wonderful lake to canoe on, kayak, x-country ski, fish and in general just relax. If we all work together we can preserve this “hidden gem” for many generations to come.
