President/Treasurer

A Board member since 2013, helping to investigate and minimize the causes of rapid weed growth, then moving on to make Lily Lake a pride of Stillwater as it was when he moved to town in 1981. Mike recently retired from being a Principal and Director of Sustainability at RSP Architects in Minneapolis, and has been involved in many initiatives for climate change and wellbeing. He is an active nordic skier, bike racer and runner, and regularly swims shore-to-shore in Lily Lake with his wife Nancy in warmer months.

Vice President

After joining the organiozation in 2013, Chris became the VP in 2019.  Chris is an advocate for open and clean wild spaces for people and animals, and is an enthusiast of wilderness adventures. Becoming part of the organization has been a great way to get involved and to help maintain and support this little jewel of a lake right in the heart of Stillwater.  Chris and his family enjoy using Lily Lake for paddling, ice skating, cross country skiing and more.

Secretary

Nancy joined the organization in 2013 becoming first its Secretary and second its Treasurer. She was interested in the Board position out of concern for water quality and improvement as well as her interest in enhancing the lake's natural environment and water sports. Nancy and husband Mike like walking around the neighborhoods surrounding the lake, biking in the Stillwater area, and finding exciting hikes in remote parklands. Gardening in the summer is one of her favorite pastimes....stop by for a section of ferns or hostas.

Mike moved to the neighborhood overlooking the lake's west shore and woodlands in 2017. He was elected to the Board in 2019 and looks forward to helping further the community's appreciation of Stillwater's gem, Lily Lake.

Ryan has been working with the Board since 2019 as a Stillwater City Council member.  He officially joined the Board in 2021.  Living only a few blocks away from Lily Lake, he loves that this area is a beautiful and scenic retreat in the middle of Stillwater.  He has been a history teacher for the past two decades at Mahtomedi Middle School.  He represents Stillwater on the Middle St. Croix Watershed Management Organization Board of Managers and also serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Washington County Historical Society.

Barb Bickford joined the board in 2023 after having led the FLL's public visioning process from 2020 to 2022.  She has lived near Lily Lake since 2017 and loves watching the wildlife, except when the deer chomp her hostas. Barb ("Ms.Lorax") is an avid gardener and tree-planter, and recently installed a gravel bed for nurturing tree seedlings for the woods around Lily Lake.

Cyndi became a member of the ‘Friends of Lily Lake’ in 2020, and a Board Member in 2022. Her family has lived on Lily Lake since the late 1960’s, and have seen numerous changes occur in the last 55 years with the lake and its impact on the community. Lily Lake is home to an abundance of wildlife… ducks, geese, fish, frogs, birds, fox, deer, opossum, racoons, etc. It is a wonderful lake to canoe on, kayak, x-country ski, fish and in general just relax. If we all work together we can preserve this “hidden gem” for many generations to come.

Living on Lily Lake since 2006 prompted Barb to get involved with the Friends of Lily Lake to help market the group's plan to develop Lily Lake into a vibrant, year-round community park area.  Barb’s career spans multiple positions in sales and marketing including that of marketing director for Discover Stillwater, a tourism arm of Explore Minnesota.  The Trueman’s currently own Paramount Pixels Digital Design Studio in Stillwater.
